What is Acid Deposition?

Acid Deposition

Acid Deposition occur due to gases such as sulphur dioxide (SO). Oxides of nitrogen (NOX) and ammonia (NH). In dry form it may settle on the ground, or if mixed with water vapor it may result in acid rain. Major sources of these gases are fossil fuel combustion and farming intensive farming pursued in Netherlands is believed to be causing acidification worldwide.

The harmful impact falls on human health, agriculture, forests,  damage to biodiversity and so on. The intensity of the impact depends upon physical factors. If a soil is already acidic, it's absorption capacity would be low & impact would be high.
