Roles of HR Manager
In an organization Human Resources plays a very important role. The Organisational objectives can onlybe achieved with the help or the effort of people working in the Organization. In order to achieve Organisational goals effectively Human Resources need to be changed efficiently.
The person who play the role of manager of Human Resources is called the HR Manager or the Human Resources Manager. HR Manager perform all the activities or work relating the management of people or human Resources in the Organizations.
Basically the job of HR manager is to manage the Human Resources in the Organization. but he perform some other important roles in the Organizations. The various roles of HR manager is discussed below:

(1) Advisory role : The HR department has functional relationship with other departments in the Organization or managers. As a specialist the HR manager advices the head of different functional department on various aspects of Human resources management. For example manpower planning, recruitment, selection, training, compensation etc. The HR manager should provide suggestions and assistance very techfully in order to win confidence and co-operation of all line manager.
(2) Counseling role : The HR manager plays the role of counseling with the employees also. He discuss the various problem of employees relating to work, career, there colleague, health, family, financial etc. and suggest them means to minimize and overcome there problems.
(3) Role of change agent : HR manager works as a change agent regarding HR areas. HR manager has to make a good and familiar relationship with the Human Resources in the Organizations. That's why he has to make certain institutional changes within the Organizations life providing better infrastructure and a better working condition mainly.
(4) The conscience role : While playing the conscience role , the HR manager inform the management about the humanitarian approach. He should advices the management about the moral and the ethical obligation towards the employees.
(5) Mediator role : HR manager often act as a mediator in the Organization. whenever there is a friction between two employees superior and subordinate and employee and management, the HR manager has to act as a mediator, so as to maintain industrial harmony.
(6) Liaison role : The HR manager act as a representative of the organization so as to give an overall pictures of the Organisational Operation to the employees particularly in case of industrial disputes or grievance redressal. Similarly he act as a employees representative in presenting there problems to the management particularly in concern where trade union are not there..
(7) welfare role : U/S 49 of the factories Act, a welfare officer has to be appointed in specific factories. HR manager expected to be the welfare officer of the company. As welfare he provide and maintain ( on behalf of the company) canteen, hospitals, educational institutions, conveyance facility etc.
(8) Controller role : The HR manager assist the line manager in effective implementation of HR policies and programs. His advice and services is essential for monitoring and controlling the progress. As an arm of the top manager the HR manager ensure that the policies and procedures approved and adopted by the management are being consistently carried out in all the department.
(9) Legal role : HR manager plays this for Fighting and grievance handling, settlement of dispute, handling disciplinary cases, corrective bargaining, Joint consultation, interpretation and improvement of various laws, contract lawyering regarding court cases, filing suits in labour Court, industrial tribunal.
(10) Human relations role : HR manager supposed to be an expert in Human Relations. He is expected to improve productivity by fulfilling the Economic, social and psychological needs and aspirations of employees. HR manager also has to meet the challenge of a fast changing pest industrial society.
