Human Resources Management

The field of human resources management involves, planning, Organizing, directing and controlling functions of procuring,  developing, maintaining and utilizing a labour force.




Features of Human Resources Management

These are the following features of Human Resources Management:-

(1) Integral part of process of management: HRM is an integral part of the process of management itself. HRM cannot be separated from the basic management functions. The function is performed by all the manager through out the Organizations rather than the personnel department only.

(2) Pervasive and Universal functions : HRM is a Pervasive function. It is required in all types of  Organizations and also at all the levels. It is equally important in Govt. agencies, sports Organization, educational institutions, etc. This is because recruitment, selection, training and development is an integral functions for each and every Organizations.

(3) People oriented : As HRM deals with employees individually as well as in group. This, it is said that HRM is people oriented. HRM deals with the Human relation in the Organizations and from top to bottom of the Organizations. HRM is concerned with personnel.

(4) Continuous process : HRM is a continuous process. It is not a short function rather it is a never ending functions.

(5) Comprehensive function : HRM is a comprehensive function which cover  all types of people's at all levels. It means HRM manage all types of people at work. It manage workers, supervisor, manager, officers and the other personnel in the Organizations.

(6) Goal oriented : HRM is concerned with the Achievements of Organizational objectives because the Achievements  of objectives of the Organizations depends on the types and quality of Human Resources Management.

(7) Interdisciplinary  : Knowledge of different fields HRM has become a highly specialized job in the modern times. It is interdisciplinary and not a isolated subject. It uses the knowledge from the various discipline like Economics, psychology, sociology, etc.

(8) Recent origin : As compared to other fields of management. HRM is compretively of recent origin. It started of the later part of the 19th century.

(9) Basics of other functional areas : HRM is a basic of all the functional areas of management like Financial management, production management, marketing management etc. The objectives of all the departments depends upon the effectiveness of the Human Resources of those departments.

(10) Arts as well as science : Human Resources Management are both Art's as well Science.

Handling peoples is one of the most creative arts and HRM involves the application of theoritical knowledge for the solution of the problems of human Resources. This makes HRM is an Arts.

HRM is also a science  as it comprise of the organized body of knowledge consisting of principles and techniques. Therefore HRM is both Art's as well as Science.
